Great Wedding Trends of 2020

You don’t work countless weddings every year without learning the ins and outs, the popular color palettes, and the great wedding trends. In this blog, I want to really touch on one interesting trend we’ve been seeing this year. This is all about the wedding veil. There have been two extreme opposites here, yet both extremely popular in the wedding world.

The first is the very long veil. This is often called a cathedral or a “royal veil”. Royal is a very fitting name for this style. It is long, elegant and flowy, draping down to the floor. This style works great with a wedding dress that has a long train. This look is sure to make brides feel like the princesses they are; watch out royal family!

Now, on the complete opposite side of the spectrum we are seeing many brides nix the veil completely. It might feel a little rebellious to go no veil during your wedding, but there are actually many stunning no veil wedding looks. With a gorgeous hair style and some hair accessories, no one will even think twice about the missing veil. It even gives a bit of a modern feel to these brides. Check them out below…

Mariah and Will | A La Fonda Wedding | Santa Fe, NM Wedding Photographer | Santa Fe, NM Wedding Videographers

A La Fonda Wedding in Santa Fe, New Mexico

Mariah and Will had a stunning wedding at La Fonda on the Plaza in Santa Fe, New Mexico. This is a wonderful place to be wed. La Fonda is the only hotel situated on the historic Santa Fe Plaza. This area is a wedding photographer’s dream! Or any photographer for that matter.

Santa Fe Plaza is dripping with old-world charm and authentic New Mexican style. I took full advantage of this while I walked the newlyweds around for some great shots on their wedding day.

The new Mr. and Mrs. Carter delved straight into New Mexico culture with their entire wedding. You can see the Southwest style in each detail, from the bright orange and red flowers in the bride’s bouquet to the turquoise jewelry and different shades of blue and turquoise bridesmaids dresses.

Not to mention the cute cactuses on their wedding invitations! And when you get to the bottom of the photos you’ll see the mariachi band leading the wedding party to their next destination. I loved every bit of it!

Mariah and Will were such sweethearts and I fully enjoyed working with each of them to make their wedding dreams a reality. We captured the love, the laughter, and the tears. They will be able to look back on the very special moments of each reciting their uniquely written wedding vows to each other whenever they need a little reminder of where it all started.

This is what I live for! Capturing each special moment for my couples to cherish forever. So beautiful!

If you haven’t noticed yet, La Fonda at the Plaza is an overwhelmingly stunning location to have a wedding. Everywhere you turn there is another great photo location. The buildings are all breathtaking and Southwest culture is in every little thought out detail that you can see.

This truly is an unforgettable wedding destination. La Fonda has a special place in history as the oldest hotel corner in America! City records date the hotel all the way back to 1607 when the Spaniards founded the city.

If you’re interested in which vendors this couple used for their wedding, keep scrolling to the bottom of the page for a list and links. To see why we’re one of New Mexico’s top-rated wedding photographers head over to our Wedding Gallery here!
