1. What to Expect During Your Albuquerque Newborn Photography Session

Welcoming a new baby is one of those seasons that can feel incredibly long and unbelievably short at the same time. Your days may be filled with feedings, diaper changes, interrupted sleep, and learning your baby's personality—but before you know it, those tiny newborn details have already begun to change.

That's one of the reasons newborn photography means so much to us.

At Lauren Cherie Photography, we don't want your newborn session to feel like another appointment you need to get through. We want it to be an experience where you can slow down, look at your baby, and realize just how tiny they are right now.

Our photography studio is located in Uptown Albuquerque, New Mexico, and it was specifically designed with newborn photography in mind.

Your Baby Doesn't Need to Perform for the Camera

One of the first things we want parents to know is that your newborn doesn't need to "cooperate" for us.

Your baby doesn't know it's picture day. They don't know that we've chosen a beautiful background or that Mom and Dad are hoping for a particular photograph.

They're simply being a newborn.

They may need to eat. They may need a diaper change. They may want to be held. They may sleep beautifully, or they may decide they don't want to sleep very much at all.

That's okay.

We approach newborn photography with patience because we believe the session should adapt to your baby—not the other way around.

Where My Nursing Experience and Photography Come Together

One of the things that makes newborn photography so meaningful to me personally is being able to combine two things I truly love: newborn nursing and photography.

I am a registered nurse specializing in newborns, and I have more than 15 years of experience working with newborns.

Those years have given me a tremendous appreciation for just how individual babies are. Even when they're only days or weeks old, they have preferences and communicate through their movements and cues.

Being able to bring that experience into my photography is incredibly meaningful to me.

Newborn photography isn't simply what I do.

It truly is my passion.

Over the years, many clients have affectionately called me the "baby whisperer."

Parents often watch from our studio couch and are amazed at how their baby settles or how beautifully they're wrapped.

A big part of working with newborns is patience. It's paying attention, recognizing when something isn't working, and being willing to change direction instead of forcing it.

Safety Comes Before the Photograph

We don't do just any newborn pose simply to get a photograph.

Every newborn is different, and we only use poses and positioning techniques that we determine can be performed safely for the individual baby we're photographing.

If we don't believe something is appropriate for your baby, we don't do it.

There will always be another beautiful photograph we can create.

Your baby's comfort and safety are more important than our shot list.

Custom Photography Setups

We have hundreds of newborn photography props and a large variety of wraps, accessories, textures, and backgrounds.

But simply owning lots of props isn't what makes a session custom.

It's what we do with them.

We love designing setups that work beautifully together while still giving your final gallery variety. We may change backgrounds, textures, wraps, styling, and details throughout the session.

Your baby is unique.

Your photographs should be too.

To us, each photograph is a little work of art.

Mom and Dad Can Relax

New parents spend so much time doing—feeding, changing diapers, washing bottles, doing laundry, and trying to remember when baby last ate.

During your newborn session, we want you to be able to relax.

Parents can sit comfortably on our studio couch and watch while we work.

You don't need to know how to pose your baby or arrive with an entire collection of photography props.

That's what we're here for.

Newborn Photo Shoot with Fresh Flowers
