BOUDOIR SESSION TIPS

Scheduled your first boudoir session? Congrats! Boudoir sessions can be a bit intimidating at first but is also a really enjoyable and fun experience!

Here are a few tips to help you prepare so you can get the most out of your session!

Enjoy Yourself:

Most important tip... take a deep breath and RELAX and enjoy yourself. It’s completely normal to be a little nervous before your shoot, but please don’t worry because you will be in very good hands. I will show you exactly how to pose and work with you to get the perfect shot.

Hair and Makeup:

We recommend getting professional hair and makeup done (and really... you deserve a day of pampering) however, if you are doing your own hair and makeup...

  • go easy on the hairspray.

  • your lipstick should be one shade darker than usual and not frosted.

  • blush and eye makeup should be slightly heavier than normal but still neat and precise.

  • if possible, use powder-based rather than oil-based makeup to prevent shine.

Albums, Prints, and Other Products:

After your session, you will receive your online gallery which will show you all of the prints, products, and albums we offer! I suggest purchasing a custom photo book or album to display your beautiful images in a safe, private place. These also make PERFECT gifts for your significant other!

Outfits:

Choose outfits that fit properly, and reflect your style. What you choose to wear should be something that you feel comfortable in. If you bring in a lingerie set that’s too far outside of your comfort zone, it will show in your face and body language in the images. So be yourself and choose outfits that you like! Make sure to have a variety… ie: bra and pantie set, one piece set, lace outfit, etc. It’s also a good idea to have some different color outfits so when you get your photos back, you have a good variety! Keep in mind that sexy doesn't always mean less clothing!

Posing:

We will work together to get the perfect poses, so don’t worry about how to pose… I got you! Lets face it though... Pinterest is awesome for inspiration! See a specific idea or pose that you love? Let me know and we can be sure to do something similar!

Everything Else:

Don’t forget all the accessories! The more accessories, the better! Shoes! Jewelry! Pantyhose! A sexy robe! Props! And for bridal boudoir sessions, feel free to bring your veil, garter, etc!

  1. Make sure you shave away any stubble and moisturize your skin.

  2. Opt for gel deodorant rather than stick, which tends to leave a chalky residue.

  3. Avoid wearing clothes and undergarments with elastic bands, which will leave lines in your skin.

  4. Skip the fake tan! As much as you may want to be tanned for your photos, fake or self tanners tends to look really orange in the photos and can be streaky. For a regular photoshoot, this wouldn’t be an issue but with a boudoir session, you’re showing lots of skin and it’s much more noticeable.

  5. Be sure to have freshly painted nails and toes! Again, you’ll be showing lots of skin and in boudoir sessions, details are everything. With all those close up shots, those details will definitely show! And this will be your excuse to go all out and get that mani/pedi a day or two before your shoot!
